North Trail High School Updates

Dear Nighthawk Families:

On Wednesday, we were proud to honour and celebrate more than 700 graduates during the ceremony and banquet at the BMO. This is our first graduating class of students who attended North Trail for all three years of their high school education. It was an emotional and fun filled day. We would like to thank all the staff and students who worked tirelessly to make the event possible. Parents, give yourselves a pat on the back for a job well done, in helping your child to make it to this momentous stage in their lives.

Please read below for other celebrations and some important events happening in the building this week. Enjoy your long weekend!

Celebrations

World Skills Competition

Last week some of our culinary staff were away at the World Skills Competition supporting one of our baking skills competitors. As a first time competitor, Mustafa Mohamed, placed 6th out of 20. This is an excellent placement for our first time being represented at World Skills. Please see the linked photo of his cake.

Off-Campus Education:

As students progress through high school, especially in Grades 11 and 12, Off-Campus Education is here to guide families and students through the exciting opportunities available beyond the classroom.

These opportunities often start in the summer before Grade 11 and continue through Grade 12. This timing works well because students have more flexibility in their schedules, greater maturity, and, can better manage the challenges of advanced courses.

Programs like Unique Pathways offer Dual Credit options in partnership with institutions such as SAIT, the University of Calgary, and Olds College. Unlike regular registration, these programs require students to apply and show they are responsible, have strong work habits, and, can balance both high school and post-secondary coursework.

In addition, Off-Campus Education supports students with Work Experience, the Registered Apprenticeship Program (RAP), CAREERS Next Gen internships, and safety certification training. These experiences help students explore different career paths, gain hands-on skills, and earn credits towards their diploma.

CTS Summer School

Students can now submit applications indpendently for CTS Summer School. The deadline has been extended to May 22, 2026. Submit applications to chinooksummerschool@cbe.ab.ca
