Nighthawk News

Good Afternoon, Nighthawk Families

Today is the last regular season game for our Senior Football team. Come on out and cheer them on at Shouldice Athletic Park. The game starts at 5pm versus St. Mary's School. This upcoming week is also Halloween Spirit Week at NTHS. Begin the week by wearing black and orange, and, on Tuesday, participate in a scavenger hunt. Check the school TVs for more information about other spirit week events.

Celebrations

Model UN

A small but mighty North Trail delegation attended SWCHMUN at Sir Winston Churchill this past weekend where they came together with over 300 delegates from 26 different high schools to try to draft solutions to some of the world's most pressing issues. North Trail placed 4th overall out of 17 small delegations and picked up our first ever award.

Outdoor Pursuits

The Outdoor Pursuits 20/30 students went on a very epic backpacking expedition last week in Kananaskis. Only one of 25 had ever been backcountry camping before... so the experience was very new for them. They persevered through cold overnight temperatures and snack-bandit classmates and came out the other side more resilient, more capable, and with a greater understanding of how to respectfully enjoy our local wilderness Outdoor Pursuits Pictures.jpg .

Volleyball

This past weekend North Trail hosted the Senior Screamer Volleyball Tournament with 21 teams from across Alberta.  It was a fantastic event that included a skills competition on Friday night.  After a hard-fought battle both of the Nighthawks Sr. Girls and Sr. Boys Volleyball teams brought home the gold.

Cross Country

Three of our Nighthawks braved the 100km/hr winds and rain in Edmonton on Saturday to race in the Cross-Country Provincial Championships! One student finished in fourth place, another student new to the team finished 65th in the province, and our third student had to end the race early, due to an unfortunate injury.

Girls Soccer

Our Girls Soccer Team played in the finals against Sir Winston Churchill this week. After a well fought battle, our team came second in their division. Congratulations on an excellent season!
