Good Afternoon Nighthawk Families,

Celebrations

As we begin April, there are a number of celebrations to acknowledge. This month is Sikh Heritage Month, a time to recognize the many past and current contributions of the Sikh community in Canada. April is also Autism Awareness Month, focusing on increased understanding, acceptance, and inclusion for individuals on the autism spectrum.

Global Languages and April Celebrations

April 23 marks the deaths of both Miguel de Cervantes, the 15th century author of Don Quixote, and William Shakespeare. This coincidence makes for a natural day to celebrate books and the languages that carry them. In the Spanish-speaking world, April 23 is Día del Idioma, a celebration of the Spanish language. Ask a Global Languages student for a book recommendation in French or Spanish this month!

University of Waterloo Math Competitions

Sixteen of our students wrote the Cayley and Fermat contests in February, and four of those students achieved Distinction. Earning Distinction on these contests is an outstanding accomplishment and reflects a high level of problem-solving ability and perseverance. Congratulations to all who participated!

Easter Holiday

There will be no school tomorrow due to Good Friday. Please note that there are regular classes on Monday. Have a Happy Easter!
