Previous Events

Empty Bowls: Art, Community, and a Cause

On Thursday, April 24, North Trail High School hosted Empty Bowls, an evening that brought together art, food, and community for a meaningful cause. The event raised an incredible $1600 for the Calgary Food Bank!

Empty Bowls is an international initiative to raise awareness about food insecurity. The event featured a silent auction of ceramic bowls made by our Art 10-30 students. Each piece was thoughtfully crafted and deeply personal — inspired by culture, identity, and the idea of giving.

Guests were also treated to a delicious soup sampler, prepared and served by our Culinary Arts staff and students.

The Empty Bowls project gave students the chance to connect their classroom learning with real-world impact. They developed technical and creative skills in ceramics while exploring how their art could be used to support others and build strong communities.

We look forward to continuing projects like this in the future, where creativity and compassion go hand in hand.

ACA Jazz Night

On Thursday, April 17, the Afro Caribbean Association hosted Jazz Night. It was a fun-filled night of jazz music, spoken word poetry, and food prepared and served by the Culinary Arts Program. The theme centred around the commodification of Black Art which was highlighted in a documentary and a number of the performances.
