Reminders
There will be no school for students on Monday and Tuesday of the upcoming week. Classes will resume with the start of Semester 2 on Wednesday, January 28.
Families are encouraged to check PowerSchool for updated Semester 2 schedules.
Timetable Updates
As we approach Semester 2 (S2), the Student Services Department continues to update student timetables. Students should check their S2 timetable in PowerSchool daily until Teachers’ Convention and note any changes to periods, teachers, or classrooms.
Please be aware that timetable changes will not be finalized until the start of the semester.
January Diploma Exams
Alberta Diploma Exams have been cancelled province-wide for January 2026.
If a student wishes to opt in to write a diploma exam for a Semester 1 diploma course, they should visit the main office in February to receive additional information about the process and available options.
Graduation 2026 — Grade 12 Parents Only
The graduation ceremony and banquet will both take place on:
- Wednesday, May 13, 2026
- Location: BMO Centre

Mandatory Extended Trail Time
All graduating students must attend the extended Trail Time on Wednesday, February 4, 2026. During this session, students will:
- Receive important event details
- Order graduation gowns
- Receive information about ticket ordering
Prior to February 4, please discuss the following with your graduate to ensure accurate information is collected:
- Name read aloud during the ceremony
- Name printed in the program
- Name on certificate/folio
(All names must be entered in PowerSchool as legal or alias names) - Number of ceremony tickets (up to 4 per graduate, with the option to request more)
- Number of banquet tickets to be purchased
(Approx. $130 per ticket, includes buffet dinner, dessert, program, and dance)
Grad Hoodies
Grad hoodie orders have arrived. Students may pick them up in Room 2206 (Learning Commons) before or after school.
Business Office Update
- All outstanding school fees (up to and including Semester 1) must be paid before the start of Semester 2.
- Families of Grade 12 students with outstanding balances should have received an email today containing their student account statement.
- Outstanding balances may impact a student’s ability to be included on the 2025 NTHS Grad List.
Financial Support
If your family is experiencing financial difficulty, assistance may be available:
- Apply for a Central Fee Waiver through your MYCBE account under the Central Waiver heading.
- Students participating in Winter or Spring Athletics may also request KidSport support through their coach.
Semester 2 fees will be added to student accounts next week. Please continue to monitor your account.

Black North Initiative — Vanguard Scholars
Application Deadline: Friday, January 31
The Vanguard Scholars Program is a free, six-year initiative supporting high-achieving Black students in Canada as they prepare for selective universities and leadership pathways.
The program includes:
- Academic support
- University counselling
- Mentorship
- Career preparation
- Financial and technology assistance
Support begins in Grade 11 and continues through post-secondary education and early career development.
