Celebrations

Holi

Known as the festival of colours, Holi is celebrated on the last full moon in the lunar month of Phalguna – this year on Wednesday, March 4. The ancient tradition marks the end of winter and honours the triumph of good over evil. Check our school Instagram page for our post about Holi.

International Women's Day

Sunday, March 8 is International Women's Day. This year's theme is "Give to Gain." Throughout the upcoming week, the Women's Empowerment Club will be organizing various fundraising activities. All money raised will go toward The Malala Fund, an international organization that helps provide access to education for girls worldwide who would otherwise not have a safe and consistent learning environment.

Robotics

Thank you to everyone who watched Team 24124 Nighthawks North Star compete at provincials. They had a wonderful weekend at the Alberta Championships and took home the Connect Award, which recognizes the team that best connects with their local STEM community to learn and adopt new tools through effort and persistence. Congratulations!

Choir

On Friday, February 27, our NTHS Choir participated in the annual CBE Sings festival, a choral performance day organized by CBE high school choral teachers. Schools performed two songs of contrasting genres for an audience of 400+, including a panel of judges from Luminous Voices, Calgary's professional chamber choir. Each choir also received written feedback and a one-hour workshop with a judge. Eleven schools participated this year – what a wonderful event!

Wrestling

This past Friday, our Wrestling team competed in the City Championships at Seven Chiefs Sportsplex. Twenty-three athletes competed and ten students placed in the top 8. Well done!

Activities in the Building

This week marks the start of the season for spring sports. Check out our Athletics Instagram page for more information.
