Celebrations 

VR Hackathon 

This weekend was the second annual VR Hackathon out of Lethbridge Polytechnic. It was run simultaneously in Edmonton, Calgary, and Lethbridge.  

The theme of this year's challenge was to create a VR app that promoted physical activity and wellness. We had 5 students from North Trail prepare and compete in the Hackathon, and one of the teams of students won third place overall, netting bragging rights and a $100 prize each.  Their app was a play on the Temple Run video game called "Kermit Run" where Kermit the Frog chases you.  

Scholarship Winner 

Congratulations to Nunu Ishaka who received the Beyond Tomorrow Scholars Award from the University of British Columbia. This scholarship is worth $80,000. 

Activities in the Building

Spring Showcase (May 14 and 15) 

On Wednesday and Thursday, we will be having our Spring Showcase, a collaboration between CTS, Global Languages, and Fine & Performing Arts. During the evening, student work from the aforementioned departments will be on display in the Moyis, beginning at 5:30pm, and students will be there to discuss their work. The construction and automotive departments will also be showcasing student work. On Thursday, the robotics team will setup in the gym, along with E-Sports. Both evenings, the school store and culinary will be selling various products. 

In the second part of the evening, there will be performances by Fine and Performing Arts students in the theatre. Tickets are now available to be purchased for all families through their My CBE Account. Please see the information below for specific times. 

Off-Campus Education News

CAREERS Next Generation and Fix Network are excited to invite students and their parents to an upcoming Auto Body Open House & Hiring Event.

This is a valuable opportunity for students interested in the auto body industry. Attendees will be able to: 

• Connect with employers who are hiring (some may conduct on-the-spot interviews) 
• Explore the shop and try hands-on activities 
• Ask questions and learn more about exciting career paths in the trades 

Parents are welcome to attend, and students are encouraged to bring their resumes.
