Good Afternoon NTHS Families
May is Asian Heritage Month. Heritage Canada states that Asian Heritage Month is an opportunity for us to learn more about the diverse culture and history of Asian communities in Canada, as well as to acknowledge the many achievements and contributions of people of Asian origin who, throughout our history, have done so much to make Canada the country we know and love.
The theme for Asian Heritage Month 2025 is: “Unity in Diversity: The Impact of Asian Communities in Shaping Canadian Identity”. This theme acknowledges the abundance of diversity present among Asian Canadian communities, and how this richness has contributed to building a unifying Canadian identity. The diverse nature of Asian Canadian communities is considered as one of their strengths, just as it is in our Canadian identity. https://www.canada.ca/en/canadian-heritage/campaigns/asian-heritage-month.html
Significant Dates
Mental Health Awareness Week
Mental Health Awareness week is happening May 5 – 11. This year’s theme, “Unmasking Mental Health,” invites us to imagine what it would feel like to speak openly about our struggles without fear or shame. Many young people hide their emotions behind a mask to protect themselves from judgment. Hats On! for Mental Health Day will take place on May 7. Albertans are invited to wear a hat to raise awareness of the importance of good mental health.
