Good Afternoon, Nighthawk Families

Happy Halloween! There was a buzz in the building today, as students were very excited to display their costumes. You can check our Instagram page to get a glimpse of the highlights.https://www.instagram.com/northtrailhs/

Celebrations

Debate Competition

This past weekend, six of our teams competed at the University of Calgary in the British Parliamentary Qualifiers. While only the top six teams advanced to Vancouver, and we unfortunately didn’t make the cut, there is still so much to celebrate!

Our teams won rounds, adapted to switching sides when required, and stepped up to new challenges. Some of our debaters were competing for the very first time and successfully filled their speaking time in all four rounds — an impressive accomplishment!

Athletic Playoffs

Our Senior Boys Football Team is competing against Forest Lawn and Jack James in the semifinals today at Shouldice Athletic Park. The game is at 5:00pm. Please note that family passes are not valid for the playoffs. The entry fee is $2 for students and $5 for adults.

Next week, both the male and female junior volleyball teams will be hosting the quarterfinals at North Trail on Wednesday. On Thursday, the senior boys will be traveling to Notre Dame for their quarterfinal game, while the senior girls will be playing at home. Please come out to support them. The entry fee is $2 for students and $5 for adults.

North Trail's Dance Team Takes the Stage!

High School Hip Hop Battle | Friday, November 6

Get ready to cheer on the North Trail Dance Team at the High School Hip Hop Battle on Friday, November 6, at Crescent Heights High School! With 14 high schools from across Calgary competing, this is a night of incredible talent, creativity, and school spirit. The battle starts at 7:00 PM sharp, so arrive early to get in and secure your seat! Tickets are $5 per person, sold at the door only.

Calgary High School Hip Hop Street Dance Flyer

What makes this battle extra special? Every routine is 100% student-choreographed! Our dancers have taken the lead in creating their own choreography, bringing their creativity, individuality, and passion for hip hop to the stage.

The stakes are high! The winning team earns a performance spot at Dance at Noon at the University of Calgary, along with a donation to their charity of choice.

North Trail hopes to support CAMFED, an organization dedicated to empowering girls and young women through education. Our dancers want to use the power of hip hop to honour the voices and contributions of Black women and girls, challenge inequality, and help create a future where every girl has access to education, safety, and the opportunity to thrive. For our team, this competition is about more than winning — it’s about using our voices and our passion for dance to uplift others.

Come out, show your Nighthawk pride, and help us make some noise! Every cheer counts as we support our dancers, celebrate student creativity, and dance for a cause that matters.

Where: Crescent Heights High School
